In the Altai Mountains of Siberia, a Russian archaeological team toils away at a routine dig site. The caves of this dig site have long been established as the ancient home of Neanderthals and homo sapiens. With the chance DNA testing of a pinky-bone, the commonness of this remote dig site explodes- the DNA in the pinky-bone is unlike anything geneticists had ever seen before. In tandem, the Russian Academy of Sciences & the Max Planck Institute of Evolutionary Science have discovered a whole new sub-species of human. Neanderthals and homo sapiens weren't alone in the Altai Mountains of Siberia-there was a third people. Could this third kind have contributed to our modern DNA?
