Professors study burial structures in Jordan

He has a suntan that didn't come from the library. William Carey University professor Daniel Browning just spent two weeks doing fieldwork in Jordan equipped with a GPS system, a compass and an instrument called a clinometer designed to measure slopes and angles.

They're modest tools, but they have great potential. Browning hopes their findings may aid our understanding of one of the mysteries of the ancient world - burial structures called dolmens.

Or, at least, sweep away some odd-ball theories from the field.

Whatever the result, it's the first time dolmens in this region have been systematically plotted and mapped, according to Browning. hattiesburgamerican.com
