Suffolk. Tools and weapons dating back thousands of years to go on show

A total of 15 bronze pieces were found buried deep in the ground in Wissett, near Halesworth, last year, and after an appeal for funding they are now able to form the centrepiece of a new display at Halesworth and District Museum.


However more money is needed for the museum to be able to cover the full cost of the conservation and display.

The first of the two hoards was discovered by archaeological enthusiasts last year using metal detectors in fields around the village.

Their findings were handed to local archaeologists for identification, before the County Archaeological Team fully excavated the area.

Their work discovered more tools and weapons, including axe heads, spears and rapier blades, which they were able to date back to the Middle Bronze Age, around 1500-1150BC [...] edp24.co.uk/
