Archaeologists have unearthed a large cemetery of the Hunebed builders in eastern Dalfsen. This is the largest cemetery of this kind in Northwest Europe. The municipality of Dalfsen will officially announce the discovery on Wednesday.

The municipality told the Stentor that several exceptional discoveries were made in the excavation area Oosterdalfsen, including grave finds and rare traces of settlements. Archaeologists from the company ADC ArcheoProjecten are doing research in the area due to the municipality’s construction plans on the east side of the town.

According to the Stentor, at least 6 archaeological sites have been unearthed in the area. In one site traces from various periods were found, including two complete pots from the stone age. Two cremation graves from the iron age were also found, as well as a number of burnt bone remains. nltimes.nl/ / Link 2
